The History

The village of Breskens was traditionally known to be a fishing village. By the start of the 1950’s, the number of recreational yachts at the fishing pier increased to approximately six or seven. Thanks to contributions of the local catering industry, complemented with a generous donation of the Bruxelles Royal Yachting Club and the help of all local sailers, our first Marina became a reality.

The surroundings

Around Breskens, there are a number of beautiful cycling routes, with stunning vistas over the sea, the dunes, the typical Dutch polders and many old creeks. Also worth your while are the surrounding villages of Groede, Nieuwvliet, Sluis and Cadzand. This last village is situated right next to the unique nature reserve Het Zwin. The vicinity of Belgian cities like Brugges, Knokke and Ghent make a trip to Zeeuws-Vlaanderen all the more appealing. Go across the border and visit one of those lovely and historic Belgian cities.
